Maxim Staffing Solutions Reviews
Maxim is the nation's largest privately owned medical staffing company, founded in 1988 as MEDICALL medical staffing. MEDICALL focused on nursing homes at its start, but later spread to schools, clinics, and hospitals. In 1992, Medical acquired NSI, a California-based home care and medical staffing firm. In 1993, MEDICALL changed its name to Maxim Healthcare Services.
Maxim Healthcare Services has three primary service lines: Maxim Homecare, Maxim Health Systems and Maxim Staffing Solutions, which oversee 18 divisions. In 2007, Maxim had 3, 000 internal and 60, 000 external employees working in more than 300 locations in 46 states and the District of Columbia.
Maxim prescreens candidates through phone and in-person interviews, testing, drug screens, reference and background checks. Applicants visit with the firm twice before placement – Initially for an in-person interview and test taking. After paperwork and licensing copies are collected, the candidate goes through an orientation program to learn about procedures, benefits, and training.
Maxim offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term disability, life insurance, 401(k), and bonus/incentive programs.
The company also offers free e-learning to candidates. Maxim's e-learning programs for nurses qualify for continuing education credits satisfying re-licensing, certification, and professional development requirements. According to Maxim's website "You will have online access to more than 400 ANCC accredited courses covering over 30 subject categories, including: cardiology, critical care, emergency nursing, gerontology, infectious disease, home health, oncology, pediatrics, and more. Our online nursing course list is always being updated to cover the latest areas of interest. Course registration is instantaneous and once the course is complete, you have the ability to print the certificates right at your desktop as proof of course completion."
One of Maxim's licensed nurses stated: "Maxim was the best of all the services I was signed on with about ensuring that I consistently had regular assignments. Although the hourly pay wasn't as high as the others, because I knew I had work when I wanted to work, I always chose to call Maxim for assignments versus the other higher paying services. What good was the higher pay if there weren't any assignments?" (name withheld, from Glassdoor.com).
A registered nurse commented: "The company is very supportive of their employees. The compensation is great. I have never had any problems with the office staff" (name withheld, Glassdoor.com).
