Beginning 4/11/16, I will provide primary care for Tennessee's underserved population at this department of health.
I worked in a 16 bed Critical Care Unit. It was quite a diverse, providing ample experience with: chest pain, cardiac caths, cardiac sheath removal, COPD exacerbations, hemorrhagic CVAs, ballon pumps, post op care, renal failure, respiratory failure with ventilator intervention, drug abuse, suicidal precaution patients, and many more. I also participated in training physicians in there use of CPOE during the hospital's conversion to a paperless order-entry system.
I worked as an RN in the Vanderbilt Burn Center. This unit has two parts: ICU and stepdown. Thoroughly trained on both sides, I cared for the stable and those requiring frequent interventions, transfusions, pressors, and astute observations.
The Burn Center was a difficult place to work, but the die-hard teamwork embedded in this unit made every shift possible.

This was a prn job that I worked through nursing school, gleaning as much experience as possible in summer breaks and holidays. I was responsible for taking q1h vital signs in a 20 bed Emergency Department, doing EKGs within 10 minutes of their ordered time, and providing tender, loving care to every patient and family member to ensure a positive and uplifting visit despite the trauma that brought it about in the first place.
