Olsten Staffing Services
All right... I don't want to be the stick in the mud here and ruin Olsten's reputation on Yelp, but my experience with them was quite bad.
I resigned from my job of the last five years back in May. I wound up finding a job in August, but that didn't turn out so well and I left after a mere two weeks. When the job fair was held at the Blaisdell in September, I approached the Olsten booth with hopes of them finding me work. Aside from the reviews here on Yelp, Olsten had been recommended to me by a friend, and one of my mother's co-workers was actually placed by Olsten at her workplace where he ended up becoming a full-time employee. I spoke with the representative at the booth and gave her my resume. She promised me that I would hear back from them soon. The next week, I got an e-mail from another representative who wanted me to take a few online skills assessments for things like typing speed and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
The next day, yet another representative (who I shall refer to as "Rep A" from hereon) contacted me on my phone. We spoke for about an hour about my ideal work situation and professional priorities. Rep A offered me a position she thought I'd be interested in, but I wound up having to decline because the distance was just too extreme for me to travel. Fortunately, she told me that she would submit my resume to a bunch of different companies and near guaranteed me that I'd find something very soon because of my experience.
I waited a week yet never heard back from Rep A. I decided to call Olsten directly. When I asked to speak to Rep A, I was told that she had quit the other week! I spoke with Rep A on a Wednesday; that Friday was her last day at Olsten.
Since Rep A left so abruptly, everything I discussed with her over the phone was lost in limbo. Rep B, who answered my call, promised me that she would try to get everything organize and work with me in Rep A's place. (Notice there's a lot of promises?) Fast-forward some days later until I finally got a call back from Rep B. I had to do the same phone interview all over again. Rep B submitted my resume to several different companies like Rep A said she would.
