Research Recruitment Agencies

Research posts are frequently advertised by recruitment agencies specialising in finding staff to work in the not-for-profit employment sector.

Such organisations are often funded by public money, including charitable donations. In these cases the organisations are heavily obliged to ensure no funds are wasted.

This means they need researchers who constantly keep up to date with the best way of spending all monies received. For example, a charity raising money to help combat an illness or disease needs to employ researchers who can establish how its public funding should be spent to ensure real value for money when it comes to the search for a cure.

Other researchers working for a charity of this nature will deal with demographic trends. For example, they will look for regions where the illness is most prevalent and attempt to determine whether any particular socio-economic group is more widely affected than another.

The salaries paid to researchers within not-for-profit organisations are not as high as those paid within the private sector. However, the work is often very rewarding in other ways as it contributes towards a positive end goal such as ensuring already stretched public services are targeted at those who need them most.
